A native of Oxford, NC, Dr. Hargrove is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He completed his internship at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis and his residency at State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He received his fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Prior to accepting his position at Graystone Eye, Dr. Hargrove served on the teaching staff of the University of Tennessee in Memphis and was in practice with the University of Tennessee Medical Group, also in Memphis. Dr. Hargrove has also served on the consulting staff of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Hargrove brings vast experience in this specialized field to our area and is the only board certified oculoplastic surgeon in the Hickory area. Ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery can be useful to patients of all ages with congenital and acquired conditions of the skin and other tissues around the eyes. The specialty includes treatment of eyelid problems such as drooping or misaligned lids, lashes or brows, repair of trauma around the eyes, treatment of the tear drainage system, and surgical reconstruction following eyelid and orbital cancer. In addition, Dr. Hargrove utilizes the most advanced surgical techniques to improve the appearance of blind eyes. Using the latest technology and the most advanced techniques available, Dr. Hargrove will also provide cosmetic procedures for the upper and lower eyelids, in addition to endoscopic forehead and eyebrow lifts. He also brings to the Hickory area a new and less invasive face-lift procedure called Rejuva-Lift™. This procedure, known in other markets as the “quick lift”, can be done under local anesthesia and mild sedation. The greatest advantage to Rejuva-Lift™ is less bruising and loss of downtime as compared to traditional face-lifts. Dr. Hargrove is on staff at Frye Regional Medical Center and Catawba Valley Medical Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS). He and his wife, Faye (Myssi), reside in Hickory with their three children.
