Your vision is unique - as personal as your fingerprint or your DNA. The CustomVue System™, allows us to measure the unique focusing qualities of your eyes. This FDA approved technology is the safest and most precise form of vision correction now available.

LASIK stands for Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis. It is a painless, outpatient procedure that utilizes ultraviolet light energy from the Excimer laser to reshape the cornea improving how light is focused by the eye, correcting near-sightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Get The Facts On Blade-Free LASIKModern Excimer lasers offer a level of precision that has not been achievable in the past. Utilizing eye trackers to ensure centration as well as variable spot scanning for larger treatment zones, these lasers provide unparalleled visual results. In fact, most patients tell us they see better after LASIK than with eyeglasses or contact lenses.

What to Expect the Day of Surgery

A mild sedative is given upon arrival at the Graystone Refractive Surgery Center. Then drops are applied to "numb" the eyes. During the LASIK procedure (1) a thin layer of the cornea is first lifted using the IntraLase™ Method. Then, in less than 60 seconds, high energy pulses from the Excimer laser sculpt and reshape the cornea with amazing accuracy. By adjusting the pattern of the laser beam, it's possible to treat high levels of near-sightedness and moderate amounts of farsightedness, as well as astigmatism. After the laser treatment is done, (2) the corneal flap is replaced in its original position. Because the tissues of the eye heal relatively quickly, no stitches are required. The entire LASIK procedure takes less than 10 minutes and both eyes can be treated on the same day.
