Areas of Specialty
Dr. James W. Harris specializes in glaucoma, including consults, medical management, laser treatments, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries such as Kahook dual blade, XEN, and ECP. He also performs anterior segment surgery, small incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implants, eyelid and external eye surgeries, and provides primary eye care, including comprehensive eye examinations and prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Dr. Harris is affiliated with Catawba Valley Medical Center and Frye Regional Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, North Carolina Medical Society, and Catawba County Medical Society.
Medical Education
Dr. Harris completed his medical education at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, his internship at Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, his residency at The Ohio State University Hospitals, and his fellowship in glaucoma at Duke University Eye Center.
